welcome back! December 30, 2007

wow…it’s been way too long since I’ve blogged!!!!  too much going on between being sick (all of us), computer problems and Christmas!  last blog I think we had just put up the tree and everything else.  This weekend we made an attempt to take it all down.  Ron got the lights outside, all the decorations made it to my “staging area” today….but the tree is still up.  Figured it might be fun to still have the tree up for New Year’s Eve.  My “staging area”….with all seasonal decor, I have to unpack and pack everything from the dining room table.  Just a thing I have, I like to see everything all on the table and organize it as I pack.  Ron doesn’t think it makes sense…I carry the boxes from the attic, down stairs, and back up (each time).  So tomorrow I will get the boxes out of the attic and downstairs, it will be Tuesday before we get everything boxed up.  Not bad for a procrastinator!!!!!!

night of no sleep! December 2, 2007

Filed under: mommy stuff — admin @ 12:19 am

one of those long nights… Sofie had been fighting naps for a couple days and then fought going to bed Wednesday night.  Ron had not been getting good sleep because of his back and was passed out by 9 PM (UNHEARD OF!).  I finally got the kids to bed and went to bed myself.  Shortly after, Sofie started crying so I decided to be nice wife and turn the monitor off in our room and take care of Sofie.  I ended up having to take her down to the couch and we snuggled.  Then Ava woke up crying, as I sent her down to the other couch Aden woke up crying.  So I went and settled him down…while Sofie and Ave were crying.  Once he was good, I went back down to Ava and Sofie.  Ava had no problem falling asleep on the couch but Sofie tossed and turned so much.  It was probably 4 AM before we found a comfy position (more so for Sofie than me!).  Then it was 6 AM, and Aden was coming down to wake us all up!  UGH.  I just wanted to sleep!  but couldn’t, had to get up for Ava’s speech class.   I think I have finally recovered from that night, coming from a person who needs at least 8 hrs of good solid sleep a night!  The night probably could have gone better if I didn’t give up the bed so Ron could have a peaceful/quiet night!  He owes me!

Santa has arrived!

Filed under: kid stuff — admin @ 10:31 pm

We went to the mall Wednesday and Santa was there!  Aden screamed/cried when Santa walked by us, but then cool when it was time to get a picture!  Ava couldn’t wait to see him and Sofie was not really sure what to think!

only in Texas! November 22, 2007

Filed under: in the news — admin @ 9:58 pm

Our weather is so up and down.  In the last 4 days we have gone from 80 degrees…sunny warm days to cold 50 degrees and we even had flurries today.  OH THE SHOCK of flurries, we had headlines like a blizzard….funny to me!  I am from St Louis, and it is funny to see the south freak out over flurries, freeze warnings, etc.  Yes, ice is totally different than snow…but it’s the drivers down here that make it twice as worse than it needs to be!  I’m more scared of the other drivers than the ice.  Back to the fact that we have had 80 degree days 2 days ago…..nothing is going to happen to our roads!  if it does, fine…prove me wrong!

2 more days! November 21, 2007

Filed under: kid stuff — admin @ 9:26 am

Friday is our day to set up the christmas tree.  The kids are so excited and actually have been waiting patiently.  Of course they noticed the dozen homes around the area that put up their xmas stuff 2 weeks ago!!!!  But I explained how we do it the day after Thanksgiving….and they accepted it!  We have a ton of lights that never get used, so I’m going to decorate the back yard!  Try and make it a winter wonderland….maybe get some fake snow?!?!?!

RIP Tom November 15, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:22 pm

my brother, Tom passed away a year ago.  Up until 2 months ago I thought about him every day.  I carried regrets that I finally let go.  I can’t go back and change anything.  I’m just sorry my kids didn’t get to know him better and vice versa.   I’ll have to be sure to keep his memory alive.  He was a good guy, always making jokes….even when he was sick in the hospital.  He had a great group of friends that he raced motorcycles with, a passion he shared with my dad and Kelly (other brother).  I know he is smiling and happy to be back with Zac (his dog he lost a couple years ago).  PEACE, LOVE YOU TOM!

The Dinner Station November 14, 2007

LOVE this place.  I started going when I was 8 mths pregnant with my second baby.  I saw an ad for the dinner station in a local parent magazine and made my appointment within a week!  I was so looking forward to having meals prepared and ready to go when the baby came.  My first 2 (Ava and Aden) are only 13 mths apart…so I had NO idea what it was going to be like with Aden, Ava and dinner time!  They have some pretty good meals…when you break down the price per meal, and the fact that they do all the prep work and clean up work….it’s worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

alternative (holistic) care November 13, 2007

Filed under: mommy stuff, kid stuff — admin @ 8:43 am

why not try an alternative way to treat colic, ear infections, reflux and other common reoccurring problems with infants and toodlers?? Or just to get your back and neck in line to avoid pain?!?!?!?! I’ve always been a “believer” in chiropractic…..from what my parents say they resolved an issue I was having when a was just about a year old with asthma. This was 34 years ago! A friend introduced me to a pediatric chiro 2 years ago. I’m not hard core holistic, but I do think that our bodies need to be aligned and the energy flowing to work and feel better. I started back with a chiro with my first pregnancy….and have been going again recently. I noticed a big difference after I started working up at the school. Holding all those kids, picking them up and putting them down….ouch!

flu shots November 9, 2007

Filed under: in the news, mommy stuff, kid stuff — admin @ 4:27 pm

I decided this year to get us flu shots.  I’m not against them, just a personal preference not to.  As many other things lately….I’ve “changed” my mind.  I took all 3 kids and myself this morning, not so  much fun.  all 3 cried….screamed at first.  Ava, my darling drama queen was the worst.  It went on and on with her.  Thank God for Aunt Patti to save the day and make it all better, and Ava’s best friend Skylar as a bribe!!!!!  Aunt Patti told Ava she couldn’t play with Skylar on the playground unless she went back to class (yes, we got the shots before class).  We are all a little sore from the shot.  Used tylenol on all of us.  the best part, they get to do it all over again in 1 month.  Since it is their first flu shot they have to split the dose, half now and half in a month!  YIPPEE!  and Ava is due for her 4 yr old vaccines.  it sucks that she is so sensitive to pain and such!

why did I change my mind….I’m in class 2 days a week with 10 - 12 other kids and so is Sofie.  Just figured I could protect myself against ONE thing.  If you don’t know, the flu shot is only a certain string on the virus….there could be many different strings this season that we are not protected against.  as I said, at least I’m protected against one thing!  KNOCK ON WOOD….we have been pretty lucky in the past.  Let’s hope this is a good season too!!!!!!!
